How to get to Tara Nature Retreat
If you can get to Rome, then you can get to Tara Nature Retreat.
We are 90 min drive from Rome - close enough to be accessible, yet far enough to enjoy peace :).
Tara Nature Retreat is atop an oak forest with a long view. It connects to hiking trails and a cleansing river. It is less than 10 km from the town of Todi, a picturesque medieval Italian town praised by Italians for its food, truffles and wine.
You can get here without a car - simply take a train, bus, or plane to Rome. A shuttle bus service or private driver then takes you to Todi from Rome Tiburtina train/bus station or from Rome Fiumicino airport (FCO). From Todi, we set you up with a driver. See details below.

Suggested route from Rome FCO Airport, the recommended airport, (Rome CIA below):
Take the 14:30 Sulga Bus from Rome FCO Airport and enjoy the ride to Todi - we'll arrange for your taxi pick up from Todi Pian di Porto (for Tara Nature retreats). Alternatively, take a train from the airport to Rome Tiburtina and take the 12:55 Flix Bus to Todi (Pian di Porto). Details and alternatives below.
From Rome Fiumcino Airport (FCO), go to the bus station located at Terminal 3 (T3). Look for the Sulga bus with 'Perugia' as destination (your stop will be 'Todi (Pian di Porto)).
There are three daily shuttles to Todi from Monday to Saturday, and once daily on Sunday/National Holidays. Check at the station and Sulga website below for the track number.
From Mon to Sat, bus departure times are: 9:00, 14:30 and 17:00.
On Sun / National Holidays, the bus departure time is only at 16:30.
Tickets cost 15.90 EUR and the journey is about 3 hours. Please double check all the info at the bus website below, allow space for any delays, and purchase your bus ticket in advance at:

If for some reason you cannot make the Sulga bus connection at FCO airport, consider taking a 30-50 min train to Tiburtina Rome to catch a Flix or Sulga bus there (last Flix bus is at 19:30 most days), or check Trenitalia for a possible connection (see below). Ensure you have enough time.

Suggested route back to Rome FCO Airport:
Take the 8:40, 10:10, or 15:00 Sulga Bus from Todi back to Rome FCO, or 9:10 AM on holidays (e.g. Apr 1, 2024). We'll arrange for your Taxi (for Tara Nature retreats). Ensure enough time to board your flight.
From Rome Ciampino (CIA) - take a 30-min train connection to Rome Tiburtina Train/Bus Station, and then follow the instructions below. Have time for transition from train to shuttle bus. We think Rome FCO is a more convenient airport, however Rome CIA works too!

Take the 12:55 Flix Bus or 16:00 Sulga Bus from Rome Tiburtina Bus/Train station and enjoy the ride to Todi - we'll arrange for your taxi pick up from Todi Pian di Porto (for Tara Nature retreats). Details and alternatives below.
By high-speed train from afar, get off at Tiburtina Rome. Then, walk 4oo metres (5-10 min) to the bus station - walking route. Ensure there is enough time to transfer (trains are sometimes delayed). There are 2 bus lines from here to Todi (Pian di Porto) heading north to Perugia:
1) Sulga Bus
Look for the Sulga bus with 'Perugia' as destination (your stop will be 'Todi (Pian di Porto)).
From Mon to Sat, bus departure times are: 10:30, 16:00 and 18:30.
On Sun / National Holidays, the bus departure time is at 18:00.

2) Flix Bus
Alternatively, you can take the Flix bus, from Rome Tiburtina Bus Station to Todi (Pian di Porto).
On Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat, and Sunday, bus departure are: 6:30, 13:00 and 19:30.
On Tue and Wed, the bus departure is only at 6:30 AM.
The journey is ca. 1.5 hours and the ticket costs are variable with Flix Bus (it starts at 6 EUR, and goes up with demand/time). Please double check all the info at the bus website below and purchase your bus ticket in advance: https://global.flixbus.com/
Suggested route back to Tiburtina Rome Train/Bus Station:
Take the 8:40, 10:10, or 15:00 Sulga Bus from Todi back to Rome Tiburtina, or 9:10 on holidays (e.g. Apr 1, 2024).

From Todi (Pian di Porto) to Tara Nature Retreat by Taxi
If you booked a Tara Nature retreat, then we will ensure that you are picked up at a Todi bus station at the start of the retreat and returned at the end of your retreat. A week before the retreat begins, we will contact you about your bus arrival and departure times.
The Sulga and Flix buses arrive at a café / gas station in Todi (Pian di Porto). From here, we arrange a taxi pick up on your behalf to the retreat centre (20 to 50 EUR, depending on number of people). You will receive more information in the pre-retreat emails.

From any airport or train station in Rome or Perugia or nearby city, we can arrange for a private driver on your behalf. The cost varies from 100 to 350 EUR, depending on location and number of passengers.

Location
If you are coming by car, you'll drive through the breathtaking landscape of Umbria. The last 1.5 km is on our very own country road. It's gravel, so take your time and drive slow and take your time. You may even see some deer or other wildlife!
